When Leisure Arts reached out to Classy Llama, they were in the process of evaluating a move to Magento.
Leisure Arts, a well-established brand of lifestyle and instructional craft publications, identified that their website growth was being throttled by an outdated and inflexible eCommerce platform. Knowing they needed a scalable site that would improve their mobile experience and offer additional control over site changes, they asked Classy Llama to help accomplish this.
Leisure Art’s utilizes a Digital Delivery System (the “Hub”) to house and manage all of their digital goods. Classy Llama assisted the LA team with integrating Magento with the Hub, which allowed the Hub to remain the central digital resource delivery system for LA. Leveraging the native Magento structure for digital products enhanced internal efficiency and improved their customer satisfaction while providing the LA team with more control over their digital assets.
Managing both digital and physical goods on their previous platform proved to be challenging for the customer experience. LA customers had to browse both digital and physical products separately in order to locate the product they were looking for. To improve this shopping experience, Classy Llama created a product page for multi-format products that displays the different formats available as an option for a single product page. Instead of having to navigate to separate physical and digital products, customers can now select a title and choose the format they would like, and then add it to their cart.
The payment process was an objective LA wanted to improve for their customers. When a customer purchased physical and digital products on the same order they didn’t have access to the digital goods until the physical product had been shipped as the order was waiting on an open authorization. Classy Llama customized the payment process in Magento to automatically create multiple payments for an order. This allowed LA’s site to automatically capture the full funds for the digital products in an order whilst retaining an open authorization for the physical products. The open authorization could then be used to capture the remaining order balance once the physical products are shipped to the customer.
The end result was a beautiful and functional Magento site that provides an excellent mobile experience for the customers serviced by Leisure Arts, including a variety of integrations and custom features.
